Developing the basic skills for avalanche safety is a critical part of enjoying the mountains. Keeping yourself and others around you safe is a priceless ability. It also allows you to really access remote areas in the mountains with confidence.

Avalanche Safety Course

Avalanche safety training and preparation are essential for anyone who wants to spend time off the pistes in the mountains. With this basic 2-day avalanche training course in Andermatt, you will learn both practical skills while ski touring as well as theory like how to assess conditions and safe ski tour planning.
You’ll learn and develop the skills required to plan and enjoy ski tours in safety. All while enjoying the spectacular scenery and great company of your small group.
Contents
- Interpreting dangers using avalanche forecasts and applying this information to tour planning
- Developing an understanding of the 3 x 3 method
- Identifying danger signs in avalanche terrain and knowing how susceptible the terrain is to avalanches
- The safe setting of tracks for ascent and descent
- The use of emergency equipment (avalanche transceiver, avalanche shovel, avalanche probe, and avalanche airbag backpack)
- Correct behavior in an accident
Aim
You will be able to identify potential avalanche situations using the tools and skills acquired and will be able to evaluate conditions on simple ski tours independently. You will know how to efficiently organize and carry out an avalanche burial scenario procedure.
