K2 Base Camp, Concordia & Gondogoro La
Hike to K2 base camp, Concordia, and the Gondogoro La on this challenging, but exceptionally rewarding trek. The adventure starts with a short but incredibly scenic flight from Islamabad to the town of Skardu in Baltistan.
Concordia is the meeting point of the Godwin-Austen Glacier and upper Baltoro Glacier. The hike there will be demanding as we trek along the route up to the 62 km long Baltoro Glacier and mountain passes. All the while, surrounded by breathtaking 8,000M mountain peaks.
It will be challenging, so please don’t take it lightly. The trail we’ll be trekking on is constantly shifting and changing with the weather and movement of the glacier. And, for most of this time, we will be trekking through completely uninhabited areas. For this reason, we will be prepared for any eventuality.
Adding to the challenges of this trek are the many streams and tributaries that we’ll be crossing.
However, the rewards for all of this effort will be huge. Once you reach the top of Gondogoro La (5,680 m) the view of the impressive Shigar Valley and Hushey Valley will make it all worthwhile.
You’ll be trekking past 10 of the world’s 30 highest peaks as you hike to Concordia. On, what has been listed as one of the great treks of the world. Witness 4 of the world’s 8,000M peaks; K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum II, and Hidden Peak.
But, these are just some of the spectacular peaks that you’ll view. Others include the mighty Chogolisa, Golden Throne and Gasherbrum IV. Take inspiration from these spectacular peaks as you trek up the Godwin Austen Glacier to K2 Base Camp.
Here, at the K2 Base camp, you’ll see the expedition teams that are in the area in the effort to climb this extremely formidable peak. The world’s second-highest after Everest.
This trek to K2 base camp, Concordia and the Gondogoro La glacier is not just one of the great hikes in Pakistan. This is one of the greatest hikes on the planet.
